About this picture.
For those of you who like to know the story behind a picture, here’s the story behind this one.
Let’s not muck about, these birds are certifiably nuts. You usually find them in gangs, and they are funny little mofos. Not necessarily in a bad way, but while you’d describe various birds as calm or beautiful or pretty, these ones are just plain old bat shit crazy. I shot this one on Hindmarsh Island down near Goolwa in South Australia, and while sometimes I’m like “meh, that’s just a New Holland Honeyeater I see them all the time” and don’t bother pushing that little button on my camera, I really liked how it looked on that plant so I invested the few seconds it took to take a couple of snaps and here we are. At the time I thought the light was rubbish and the shot probably wasn’t any good, but I managed to brighten it up a bit afterwards which brought out all the colours and made the dirty overcast sky go white and boom!
