About this picture.
For those of you who like to know the story behind a picture, here’s the story behind this one.
Look, to be honest, sometimes there’s a great adventure story behind how I managed to track down and shoot a particular bird. But in this case, I went to one of my favourite local places to find Rainbow Bee-eaters not far from Murray Bridge in South Australia, and sometimes it goes well, sometimes not so much. Because these mofos are pretty sketchy, and think about it, if they can catch an actual fly on the fly, they can sure as shit spot a big oaf like me even in my best camo doing the sneaky sneaky thing.
The good thing about these birds is they’ll quite often perch out in the open to keep an eye on things before darting off to catch a snack. The bad thing is it can be tricky to get within 50 miles of them before they bugger off. This particular day I had a decent day behind the camera and ended up with some not shit shots of a few birds including Red Capped Robins, Kookaburras, a Varied Sitella which won’t impress you at all cause hardly anyone even knows what they are, and this one.
