About this picture.
For those of you who like to know the story behind a picture, here’s the story behind this one:
Wedgies are awesome, but getting close to take a pic isn’t always easy. On this particular day I was road tripping up through northern South Australia to run the Great Kanku-Breakaways Marathon just outside of Coober Pedy, and had seen a few around on my way up, but every time I stopped or attempted to get close, they buggered off. Finally I found one that was a little more obliging and with a little it of stealth and more than a little bit of luck I managed to get close enough to get a decent shot.
I actually shot this particular image a few years back, (when I was still running marathons!), but sort of forgot about it til recently when I revisited it, gave it a polish, and decided to add it to my fine art print series.
As with most of my ‘white background’ fine art prints, I haven’t actually ‘deleted’ the background so much as dropped the colour out of it. Sometimes there’s a grey or blue sky and all I do is desaturate the sky that’s there and brighten it up, and it looks white as if the image has been ‘cut out’ – but that is not what’s happened here. No contouring. No photoshop other than colour and brightness adjustments.
Paper: Printed on Ilford Galerie Textured Cotton Rag 300gsm. This is a 100% Cotton Rag Matt paper with a textured surface for fine art printing. It’s an archival paper that gives lasting image stability.
Notes: This print comes unframed – that bit’s up to you.
