Some people use the ‘virtue signalling’ accusation thing as an insult. Like saying what you believe in is a bad thing. Like if you don’t do enough to back your beliefs up, you’re a shit person.
But you know what’s worse? Fucking asshole signalling. For example, by trying to give someone shit for virtue signalling.
It’s like the people who try and shame vegetarians for driving a car or some other “that thing you do is dumb because you also do this other thing” bullshit logic. These are the same fucking assholes that would probably shame you after pulling someone from a burning house, for not also pulling out their laptop computer, lounge suite and kitchen utensils.
Fuck those people. Fuck ’em.
I think Matt Healy from the band The 1975 also said it quite well when he said “I’d rather be called a hypocrite than do fuck all”. Amen to that buddy. Amen.
So whether it’s a little or a lot, do what you can, when you can. Because even a little virtue signal is better than signalling that you’re a fucking asshole.
