The Towerless Tower Trail Run

I’ve done the Tower Trail Run a few times before, and I don’t particularly like the slog up to the actual Tower - and when I say “I don’t particularly like it” we all know I mean I actually fucking hate it and I will just say there is absolutely no truth to the rumour I started the fire there a few months ago so we didn’t have to run up there this year.

Great Southern Bolt… to the crapper.

So the Great Southern Bolt starts in Myponga which is quite close to where I live in the same way we might say Australia is quite close to New Zealand, because England is even further away. It’s not Naracoorte or Coober Pedy, but in my 4WD at today’s petrol prices it’s still about $65 there [...]

Conquer the Summit. But no, it conquered me.

I haven’t been doing many races recently because something something something. I’d like to say I’ve retired like Ash Barty to pursue new dreams, (like becoming a pro pizza eater), but mostly I’ve just been a lazy bastard and haven’t been feeling overly inspired to do races because something something something. I do Conquer the [...]

The Hysterical Carnage Backyard Ultra. Accurate.

Not gonna lie, really only entered Hysterical Carnage Backyard Ultra because I thought it would be hysterical, just like the name suggests. Instead it was more Carnage, also like the name suggests. And why the fuck am I surprised? I haven’t run more than about 20kms in six months, so the concept of running a [...]

Megafest… and I fell in a hole.

The worst thing about Covid, aside from you know, the whole death and destruction thing, is when you sign up for an event because you’re capable of doing it and it gets postponed until you’re not, and you decide to do it anyway. Apparently I must have been quite capable of running 23kms of trails [...]

Cleland Traffic Jam Championships

So I’m not signed up to the Cleland Trail Championships after dying at the end of Mt Crawful a few weeks back and then having a bit of a shocker at the Murray Bridge Half last weekend. I figure some time off will be nice to try and recover properly when a well meaning friend, [...]

ROAR Barossa Adventure Race. (Including The Barefoot Gravel Run)

After ending up a bit fucked up after Mt Crawford last weekend, I was really looking forward to taking a break to rest and recover and, oh look, there’s an adventure race coming up. We have hardly any of these in South Australia and thankfully it wasn’t til Saturday which, by the time I saw [...]

Rockleigh105 (but actually 65) Gravelfest – and my ass really hurts.

When I first fucked my ankle a bunch of years ago, I bought a mountain bike thinking that might be my new thing that only required one good leg. I entered a couple of events, but was completely shithouse at it. I entered Adventurethon in WA and when I hit a sand trap at 30km/hr [...]

Gock Cobblers Creek

I sign up for Cobblers Creek and decide to continue my tradition of putting stupid names on my race bib and enter as ‘Assnugget’ and it’s only after I’ve pressed ‘enter’ I think Cock Gobbler would have been more appropriate because… Cobblers Creek and all that. Or maybe I could have gone with Gock Cobbler [...]
