We’ve recently seen the support, and uproar, caused by NFL players kneeling as a way of standing against racial injustice.
Protest or campaign too enthusiastically, and you’re considered a bully or being out of line. Protest eloquently and peacefully, and you’re still in the shit.
What certain people are really saying is could you just shut the fuck up and go away and not protest or campaign at all because that would be easier for the rest of us. Sound familiar?
Exactly.
Whether it’s our LGBTIQ friends here in Australia, or POC in the USA, or any other group around the planet for that matter, it seems the only way to not offend anyone is to not say anything and not change anything.
Well sorry, that is not an option.
Until everyone gets treated fairly and equally, there’ll always be something that needs to be said and done. And it’s simply not possible to do it or say it in a way that everyone is happy with.
Here’s to the people who are brave enough to take a stand and say what needs to be said.
